Man Arrested In Armed Robbery Of Ocean City Gas Station: Police
Police say Harry "David" Legette robbed the Sunoco Gas Station with a 10-inch butcher knife Friday morning.

Ocean City, NJ -- An Ocean City man has been arrested and charged with the armed robbery of the Sunoco Gas Station that took place Friday morning, police said.
Harry “David” Legette, 24, was charged with robbery, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon, Ocean City Police said Friday night.
Police received a report of the robbery at 7:22 a.m. Friday morning. The store clerk told responding officers that the robber had approached the counter holding a coffee cup and a 10-inch butcher knife, and ordered the clerk to hand over all the money in the registers.

The clerk did as instructed, and the robber reportedly fled the store with about $100 cash, in an unknown direction. No one was injured at the scene.
Detectives conducting the follow-up investigation were able to identify the robber as Legette using surveillance footage and information from the clerk, including a description of the robber. The detectives and patrol officers responded to an address on Mercer Place, where they found Legette.

A search of the residence led to the recovery of the butcher knife, clothing worn by the robber, and the recovery of the cash money taken from the register, police said.
Legette, who lives at the Mercer Place address, was arrested and transported to the Ocean City Police Department. He was then taken to the Cape May County Correctional Facility, where he being held on $100,000 full cash bail.
Assisting with this investigation were officers from the Duty Patrol Squad, Community Policing Unit and the Detective Bureau.
The Ocean City Police Department emphasized the importance of businesses having modern surveillance equipment that has the capability of recording activity in and around their business.
“This equipment assisted in the quick apprehension of an armed suspect preventing any further incidents in the community,” police said.
