Martin Luther King Day Of Service In Ocean City Jan. 15

Ocean City is inviting residents to participate in "A Day On, Not A Day Off" in honor of Martin Luther King's Civil Rights efforts.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — Ocean City will honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by participating in its annual Martin Luther King Day of Service next month. Ocean City is inviting residents to participate in "A Day On, Not A Day Off" in honor of King's leadership efforts in the Civil Rights movement. The Day of Service is Monday, Jan. 15, 2018.

There will be a citywide cleanup from 9 a.m. to noon. Sign-up, supply distribution and lunch will take place at the Howard S. Stainton Senior Center, located in the Community Center, 17th Street and Simpson Avenue.

Two days earlier, there will be a ceremony in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at the Bill and Nancy Hughes Performing Arts Center, located at the Ocean City High School, Sixth Street and Atlantic Avenue. It begins at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13.

Attendees are asked to use the Sixth Street entrance. There will be a soul food dinner after the ceremony. A southern style comfort menu to include fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, cornbread, collard greens and more.
