Miss New Jersey Shows Perseverance Pays Off

Her platform is raising awareness about distracted driving, but this year’s Miss New Jersey delivered another message with her performance and victory Saturday night in Ocean City: perseverance pays off.
In her fourth appearance at the Miss New Jersey pageant, Lindsey Giannini, 21, of Hammonton, finally grabbed the crown Saturday night at the Ocean City Music Pier, according to The Press of Atlantic City.
Giannini was to set off her own fireball during her dance routine, but when the firework wouldn’t ignite, she shrugged it off and finished her routine, according to the report.

Now, she will represent New Jersey in this year’s Miss America pageant in September in Atlantic City.
Giannini is a student at Rowan University, and first became aware of the dangers of distracted driving when she was 17, according to nj.com.

She took a sign to the local police department and asked them to put it up. Her campaign can now be seen throughout the state, according to the report.
