Miss New York Wins Third Straight Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City

Kira Kazantsev became the third consecutive Miss New York to win the Miss America Sunday night, according to The Press of Atlantic City.

For the third year in a row, a contestant from New York was crowned Miss America.

Kira Kazantsev became the third consecutive Miss New York to win the Miss America pageant at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City Sunday night, the Press of Atlantic City reports. Her platform was domestic violence.

She beat out finalists from Massachusetts, Florida, Arkansas and Virginia for the crown, according to the report.

Nina Davuluri won the pageant as Miss New York in 2014, and Miss New York Mallory Hagan won the crown the previous year.

Cierra Kaler-Jones, of Galloway, represented New Jersey in the pageant after winning the Miss New Jersey Pageant in Ocean City this summer. Her platform was Empowering Today’s Youth Through the Arts.
