OCEAN CITY, NJ — Ocean City officially has a new chief of police after Bill Campbell was sworn in at a recent City Council meeting.

The room was packed with fellow police officers and family members who burst into cheers and applause after Campbell's swearing in.

Mayor Jay Gillian said that between police and the fire department, Ocean City's public safety is "the best."

"I mean that from the bottom of my heart," Gillian said. "Nothing is more important to me as mayor than that."

According to OCNJDaily, Campbell, 55, has spent his entire law enforcement career in Ocean City, working seasonally from 1989 to 1992 before joining full-time in 1994.
