New Fire Chief To Take Over In Ocean City
Bernard Walker will be sworn in as Ocean City's new fire chief at a ceremony on June 27, and outgoing chief James P. Smith will be honored.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — The Ocean City Fire Department will enter a new era on June 27 as Fire Chief James P. Smith retires and Bernard Walker is sworn in.
The change-of-command and swearing-in ceremony is set for 6 p.m. at Ocean City Fire Headquarters (550 Asbury Ave.).
Walker will be sworn in during the ceremony, a fire department tradition. The ceremony also will include the swearing-in of John Quigley Jr. as a battalion chief and Ryan Stamm as a captain.

Smith will be honored for his 30 years of service to the department, and he will participate in the change of command.
