New Street Drug Discovered In Cape May County As Overdoses Near 100 For the Year: Prosecutor
There have been 10 fatalities, including 3 since the beginning of October, and an increased amount of Narcan rescues by police.

There have been three fatal overdoses and 20 overall in Cape May County in the last month and a half, according to Cape May County Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor.
For the year, there have now been 10 fatal overdoses and 97 total overdoses, Taylor said in a statement released late last week.
Police throughout the county have been administering naloxone (Narcan) more frequently, with officers beginning to carry multiple doses for quicker deployment.

This coincides with the proliferation of novel synthetic, or “designer drugs,” recently seen in the county, including the presence of a new drug.
The synthetic opioid U-4770 was recently detected in the county for the first time, in a sample mixed with heroin and fentanyl. U-4770 was banned by the Drug Enforcement Administration on Nov. 14.

The prosecutor urges those addicted to drugs, as well as the public, that this combination of illegal drugs can be fatal for first time users, as well as those addicted for years.
These designer drugs are undetectable to the user and may be in any street drug, which are now being called poisons.
Taylor continues to urge the citizens of Cape May County to report any information regarding illegal drug activity and or any criminal activity within community.
