NJ Commissioner Of Education To Speak At Ocean City Graduation

OCEAN CITY, NJ — New Jersey Commissioner of Education Dr. Lamont Repollet will serve as keynote speaker for Ocean City High School's graduation. Commencement takes place at 4 p.m. Monday, June 17 at Carey Field.

Repollet is the chief executive school officer of New Jersey and oversees all schools and colleges/universities. He also serves as secretary to the State Board of Education. Repollett also visited Ocean City High School earlier this year.

"Throughout the school year our students, staff, and administration have been privileged to host the Commissioner, and we are humbled that he has chosen our district to share his perspectives on the future of education and celebrate the student’s accomplishments," Superintendent Dr. Kathleen Taylor said in a statement. "Having had the chance to hear the Commissioner speak on several occasions, I know that Dr. Repollet’s remarks will be inspirational — he always is.”

Governor Phil Murphy appointed Repollet as acting commissioner of education Jan. 12, 2018. Repollet assumed office Jan. 29, 2018.

Repollet was previously superintendent of the Asbury Park School District from 2014-18. He previously worked as a principal at Carteret High School and Columbus Elementary School and as an assistant principal at Irvington High School. He began his career as a teacher in the East Orange School District in 1996.
