Non-opioid Alternatives to Pain Management: Virtual Presentation
Presentation is part of an initiative to combat opioid addiction among Cape May County residents
As part of its mission to prevent and treat substance abuse, Cape Assist will host an education session on Zoom about non-opioid alternatives to pain management on Tuesday, Aug. 18, at 3 p.m. The session is open to all nurses and health aides who are caregivers for older adults.
The presentation is particularly timely, as the COVID-19 pandemic has escalated opioid addiction while people are struggling with isolation, reduced access to treatment options and other factors.
During the Aug. 18 discussion, participants will hear a brief overview of opioid use statistics in New Jersey, followed by information on safer alternatives for pain management, and preventive steps to take before taking prescription opioids, prescribed or otherwise, as a form of treatment.

This presentation is part of Cape May County’s initiative to combat opioid addiction among residents. In 2017, the county saw the highest numbers of opioid prescriptions dispensed per resident in the state, according to the NJ Attorney General’s Office.
