Now Hiring: 5 Of The Most In-Demand Jobs In New Jersey

These jobs are among the most in-demand in the state, according to the Department of Labor and Workforce Development.

Looking for a job? Are you just entering the job market, looking for new opportunities or looking for a career change altogether? There’s really no time like the present to do any of these things.

Job openings were at an all-time high last year, and Money Magazine had an even rosier outlook for this year. In New Jersey specifically, there are a lot of jobs available, with a potential for long-term stability in some areas that carry some hefty salaries.

Here’s a look at some of the more “in demand jobs” currently available in the state, according to the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development:

Sales Representatives, Wholesale and Manufacturing, Except Technical and Scientific Products: 39,580 openings posted online. The average beginning salary is $45,000, with an average salary of $76,420. The salary increases even further with experience, as the average salary for an experience employee is $92,500. Even with the high salaries, all that is needed to get started is a high school diploma or GED, and no experience is needed.

Software Developers, Applications: 38,100 openings posted online. The average beginning salary is $74,250, with an average salary of $99,320. The average salary for experienced developers is $119,680. A Bachelor’s Degree is required, but no experience is required.

Retail Salespeople: 34,070 openings posted online. The average beginning salary is $19,050, with $29,200 for the average experienced salesperson. The average salary is $26,770. In general, no experience is necessary and prospective workers don’t even need a high school diploma.

Registered Nurses: 32,650 openings posted online. The average beginning salary is $67,500, with the ceiling skyrocketing to $92,980 for experienced nurses. On average, nurses make $79,840. The long-term future looks good, too. By 2024, there are expected to be 78,460 jobs available in this field, with 1,080 coming as a result of growth. To get a job as a nurse, a Bachelor’s Degree is required.

Managers: 27,050 openings posted online. Jobs are plentiful and the average starting salary is above the average experienced salary of many of the other jobs on this list, at $96,990. Experience will get you $153,310, and an average salary is about $131,980.
