Ocean City Up To 28 Active Coronavirus Cases Among Residents

Asked whether this raises any red flags, county officials said they're just monitoring the situation at this point.

OCEAN CITY, NJ β€” The Cape May County Health Department reported 28 active cases Thursday among Ocean City residents. That's more active cases than any county municipality and 26 more than officials reported Aug. 30 for Ocean City.

None of the active cases are linked to longterm-care facilities. Asked whether this raises any red flags, county officials said they're evaluating the situation.

"We are just monitoring at this point," said Denis Brown, administrative aide to the county freeholders. "There hasn’t been any major event to point towards any increase. As in the past when issues arise we have provided warnings, such as during the earlier part of the summer."

County health officials have occasionally disclosed patterns that have caused outbreaks. The health department warned last June that most new cases within a week came from young adults socializing without regard for spreading the virus.
