Ocean City Adds Garbage Pickups To Catch Up With July 4th Mishaps
Trash and recycling pickup wasn't able to keep up with the increased demand from 4th of July weekend.
OCEAN CITY, NJ — Ocean City's trash and recycling pickup services weren't able to keep up with the increased demand from 4th of July weekend. As a result, the City's contractor added trucks for pickups for Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Mayor Jay Gillian announced.
Many in Ocean City experienced major delays in pickup. Increased waste volume from 4th of July weekend interfered with normal service. But the city's waste-management contractor has doubled its fleet of trucks for Thursday through Saturday to catch up.
"Our waste management contractor staffed routes consistent with past years but was unable to respond to the dramatically increased amount of trash and recycling," Gillian said in a Thursday announcement.

If your trash and recycling wasn't picked up, leave it curbside, Gillian said. The City will review the situation to ensure it doesn't happen again, Gillian said.
