Ocean City Air Festival Set For Saturday; Airshow Takes Place Sunday

The skies will be full of entertainment in Ocean City this weekend.

Ocean City, NJ -- Ocean City’s annual Airport Festival takes off this weekend.

The free festival is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 24, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Ocean City Municipal Airport, 26th Street and Bay Avenue.

It will feature a ground display of unusual airplanes including a B-25J Mitchell Bomber and TBM Torpedo Avenger, officials said.

It will also feature the N.J. Pine Barons Radio Controlled Model Airplane Show, a banner pick-up demonstration, a children’s paper airplane contest, an antique car and truck show, “Bubble Mania,” children’s bounce activity, food and more.

There will also be helicopter and model airplane rides.

The schedule of events is as follows:

  • 11:00 am: Children’s Paper Airplane Contest
  • 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm: Banner Pick-Up Demonstration, Coast Guard Demo, and NJ Pine Barons Radio Controlled Aircraft Show
  • 2:00 pm: Awards Presentation
  • 4:00 pm: B-25J Mitchell Bomber Departs
  • 4:00 pm: TBM Torpedo Bomber Avenger Departs

The following activities will be available all day:

  • Antique Car and Truck Show
  • Face Painting with Special Guests
  • NJ Pine Barons Radio Controlled Airplane Display
  • Paperclip Sculpting
  • Bubble Mania
  • Music, Food & Vendors
  • Helicopter and Airplane Rides available for purchase
  • The Ocean City Free Public Library Bookmobile will be on site all day

The following day brings the return of the Boardwalk Aerobatic Airshow. The airshow is on Sunday, Sept. 25, 1 p.m.-3 p.m.

Spectators can see the planes from the beach or boardwalk between Sixth Street and 14th Street.
The show will include “Warrior Aviation,” the “Raiders Airshow Team,” “Kevin Russo Air Shows,” and a Coast Guard helicopter water rescue.
