Ocean City Announces the Winners of Its License Plate Contest

Less than two months ago, the city launched "a contest to find the Most Outstanding Ocean City Boosting License Plate in existence."

And on Wednesday, the city's public relations director announced not one, but 23 winners.

Apparently, there are plenty of drivers who like to wear their Ocean City pride on their bumpers.

Judges found enough quality entries that they divided the winners into two categories: plates that promote Ocean City and plates that show affection for Ocean City.

Winners get framed plaques featuring replicas of their license plates, and runners-up win certificates of appreciation.

Public Relations Director Mark Soifer said in a release that many of the entries included stories of Ocean City visits that eventually turned into the purchase of seasonal or year-round homes.
