Ocean City Beach Patrol Reduces Amount of Guarded Beaches as Summer Ends [UPDATED]

Ocean City, NJ -- Starting Aug. 29, Ocean City Beach Patrol will reduce the number of guarded beaches now that summer is winding down, the city announced.

The Department of Fire and Rescue Services announces that the Ocean City Beach Patrol will no longer guard the following beaches for the summer of 2016 as of Aug. 29.

  • Seaview Road
  • Waverly Blvd. (Surfing Beach)
  • 13th Street
  • 16th Street (Surfing Beach)
  • 17th Street
  • 20th Street
  • 46th Street
  • 48th Street
  • 53rd Street
  • 60th Street

The following beaches will not be guarded from Monday, Aug. 29, to Friday, Sept. 2, but will be guarded for Labor Day Weekend.

  • Atlantic Blvd.
  • Park Place
  • 42nd Street

The following beaches will remain guarded through Labor Day on Sept. 5. Beaches are guarded from 10 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. weekends and holidays, and from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on weekdays.

  • Seaspray Road
  • Surf Road
  • North Street
  • Stenton Place
  • St. Charles Place
  • Delancey Place
  • Brighton Place
  • 5th Street
  • 7th Street (Surfing Beach)
  • 8th Street
  • 9th Street
  • 10th Street
  • 11th Street
  • 12th Street
  • 14th Street
  • 15th Street
  • 20th Street
  • 22nd Street
  • 24th Street
  • 26th Street
  • 28th Street
  • 30th Street
  • 32nd Street
  • 34th Street
  • 36th Street
  • 39th Street
  • 44th Street
  • 50th Street
  • 55th Street
  • 58th Street

The following beaches will be through Sunday, Sept. 18. These beaches are guarded weekdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and weekends from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

No beaches will be guarded after Sunday, Sept. 18. The Ocean City Beach Patrol strongly urges bathers to swim only at guarded beaches.
