Ocean City Beach Patrol Tryout Date Set

Interested candidates should begin training now.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — If you're interested in joining the Ocean City Beach Patrol, start training now. The Lifeguard Test is tentatively set for Saturday, June 4.

Test events are subject to change, but as of right now they include: 500 meter box swim, 500 meter box paddle, 1/2 mile run in 3:45 or less, 500 meter erg, surf dash (short sprint to a standard in stomach deep water and back) and row.

Candidates must be at least 16 years old and complete a physical and an application prior to the rookie test.

For those interested, rookie school clinics will be held May 21, May 28, and afternoons at 4 p.m. May 30 and 31 as well as June 1 and 2.

The rain date for the test is June 5.

The Ocean City Beach Patrol is also hiring EMT for the 2022 season.
