Ocean City Boys, Girls Soccer Teams Learn First Round Playoff Opponents

The boys earned the top seed in the Group 3 playoffs.

Ocean City, NJ -- The road to the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 3 boys soccer championship goes through Ocean City.

The Red Raiders boys earned the No. 1 seed in the 16-team tournament, and will host No. 16 Timber Creek in the first round, to be played by Oct. 31, according to the brackets posted on nj.com.

Ocean City (12-3-1) has won seven games in a row, and claims six shutout victories this season. It has games remaining at Egg Harbor Township and at Mainland before opening tournament play on Monday.

Timber Creek is 4-11-1, but didn’t allow a goal in any of its wins, and played Cherry Hill East to a 0-0 tie earlier this season. The Chargers have one game left, at Lenape, before the playoffs begin.

The winner plays the winner of the game between No. 8 Hammonton and No. 9 Delsea on Nov. 3. The semifinals are scheduled for Nov. 7, with the championship game scheduled for Nov. 10.

Meanwhile, the Ocean City High School girls soccer team earned the No. 5 seed in the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 3 tournament, and will host No. 12 Central Regional in the first round, to be played by Nov. 1, according to nj.com.

Ocean City (11-5) won seven of its 11 games without allowing a goal. It has home games remaining against Egg Harbor Township and Mainland before the tournament begins.

Central Regional’s (6-10-1) regular season is complete.

The winner plays the winner of the game between No. 4 Toms River South and No. 13 Toms River East on Nov. 4. The semifinals are scheduled for Nov. 8, with the championship game scheduled for Nov. 10.
