Ocean City Caribbean Dinner Supports Dominican Community Center
The Caribbean Dinner & Celebration will feature three chefs from Los Cocos.

The Dominican Republic is about 1,500 miles from Ocean City, but residents have the opportunity to support building a community center in the Caribbean nation. St. Peter's of Ocean City will host a Caribbean dinner cooked by three chefs by Los Cocos in the Dominican Republic.
Building Up Los Cocos — a nonprofit that has build 108 houses in Los Cocos and the surrounding communities — is running the dinner to raise funds for constructing the Mario Antonio Almonte Community Center. The event takes place from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at St. Peter's of Ocean City (501 E 8th St.). Click here to purchase tickets.
The community center — named after one of the nonprofit's founders — will provide Dominicans with opportunities to learn how to make jewelry with larimar (a stone only found in the Dominican Republic), fix bikes, learn English and boost the community's self-sufficiency to build their own homes, according to Building Up Los Locos.
