Ocean City Children's Theatre Series Kicks Off July 5

Ocean City, NJ -- “A Year With Frog and Toad (TYA)” will kick off the Greater Ocean City Theatre Company’s 2016 Children’s Theatre series on Tuesday, July 5, 10:30 a.m., the theatre announced Monday morning.

“So many special memories will be created as kids, families, and the young at heart enjoy live family theatre at an affordable price,” Ocean City Theatre Company Artistic Director Michael Hartman said. “Tuesday mornings at the Music Pier are my favorite part of the summer because you get to experience first hand the joy of theatre for kids and the magic of your imagination.”

Based on Arnold Lobel’s beloved children’s books, "A Year with Frog and Toad" is a whimsical musical that tells the story of two best friends: the cheerful Frog, and curmudgeonly Toad.

The musical follows Frog and Toad through four colorful seasons, from hibernation to hibernation.
Frog and Toad, along with their playful, quirky friends Snail, Turtle, the Birds, and more, enact many adventures, from rushing down a hill in a runaway sled in the winter, to taking a picnic and a quiet moment in the summer. Vignettes feature catchy tunes, funny dialogue, and bright, memorable characters.

The Broadway show was nominated for three Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

The Production Team includes John Anker Bow (Director), Andrew Hink (Music Director), Colleen Kreisel (Choreographer), Peggy Fotusky (Scenic Artist), James Hartman (Sets), Donald Toal (Props) and Yu’seph Cornish (Costumes). The professional cast includes Sean White, Jeremy Knopka, Sean Burns, Allison Boyle, Erika Wasko and Elizabeth Worley. Kirsten Sughrue is the Production Stage Manager.
