Ocean City Council to Consider Building Heights, Baker Contract Thursday Night

Council meets at 7 p.m. at City Hall.

Ocean City Council will meet for the second time in three days this week when it holds its regular council meeting Thursday night, 7 p.m. at City Hall.

Council met Tuesday night in a special meeting to conduct interviews and appoint a new council member to replace former Council Vice President Michael Allegretto. Karen Bergman was approved as the new council member in a 5-0 vote.

On Thursday, council will entertain an ordinance on first reading proposing a change in township code to measure building heights for non-residential and mixed-use buildings from base flood elevation plus one throughout the city.

It will also consider an ordinance on first reading to change the name of the Advisory Council on Physical Fitness and Sports to the Ocean City Healthy Living Advisory Council.

There are also 11 items on the consent agenda, including improvements to various racquetball courts throughout the city and the approval of a contract with Michael Baker International Company for survey and preliminary designs for a roadway and drainage improvement project for 26th to 34th streets, West Avenue to Bay Avenue.

Council President Peter Madden will also be appointed to replace former Council Vice President Michael Allegretto on the Tourist Development Commission and the Business and Neighborhood Development Association.
