Ocean City Council To Vote On $10,250,000 Bond Ordinance

OCEAN CITY, NJ — Ocean City Council will hold a public hearing and final vote on a proposed bond ordinance that will help the city continue to make improvements throughout the city. Council will meet on Thursday, July 12, 7 p.m. at City Hall, 861 Asbury Avenue.

The proposed bond ordinance sets aside $10,250,000 and appropriates $9,737,500 in bonds and notes for various upgrades throughout the city. The upgrades are as follows, according to the agenda packet posted on the city's website:

• $4,100,000 for the construction and reconstruction of various streets and alleys, with an estimated $3,895,000 to be borrowed;
• $1,650,000 for the construction and reconstruction of various storm water drainage systems, with an estimated $1,567,500 to be borrowed;
• $4 million for lagoon and back bay dredging, including but not limited to permitting, engineering and dredging of the areas as well as the preparation or emptying of one or more confirmed disposal facility sites. The estimated amount to be borrowed is $3,800,000; and
• $500,000 for construction, rehabilitation and repair of public buildings, including but not limited to comfort station renovations, music pier roof repairs, replacement of underground storage tanks, vehicle maintenance utility upgrades and all related items. The estimated amount to be borrowed is $475,000.

Council will go into closed session to discuss the status of its affordable housing proposal. A presentation will also be given on the 2017 Audit. There are also 19 items on the consent agenda. To view the full agenda, visit ocnj.us.
