Ocean City, County Honoring Coast Guard This Week
Here are some local events honoring service members.

OCEAN CITY, N.J. — Several local events will recognize the U.S. Coast Guard this week. The U.S. Life Saving Station in Ocean City will host an open house at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 2 at the station on Fourth Street and Atlantic Avenue.
Members of the U.S. Coast Guard based in Cape May and the Coast Guard Community Foundation will attend. The event includes light refreshments and a presentation on the Life Saving Station's role as a precursor to the Coast Guard.
Later this week, a Coast Guard Community Festival will take place. Attendees will explore Training Center Cape May (1 Munro Ave., Cape May) on foot and by trolley. They'll also get a look at USCG vessels and a Coast Guard helicopter.

The event takes place 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Here is the schedule:
- 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: walking tours of Coast Guard ships
- 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: trolley tours of Training Center Cape May
- 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: kids' zone (face painting, games, kit building and a bounce house)
- 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: cultural exhibits, community organizations and vendors
- 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: static helicopter display
- 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: vendors and community groups
- 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: food and beer garden, featuring Cape May brews
- 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.: live music and entertainment
- 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: live Coast Guard demonstrations
- 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: student art contest open house (at Nature Center of Cape May)
- 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., hourly: Cape May Harbour Tour via pirate ship (ticket required)
