OCEAN CITY, NJ — Hurricane Dorian hasn't hit the Jersey Shore yet, but it hit close to home for an Ocean City couple. The son of Chris and Carol Lyn Terrels lives in the Bahamas, according to ABC6.

Their son, Joshua, has lived in Elbow Key for the last seven years. Chris and Carol also finished building a new home on the island last June, according to ABC 6. Joshua stayed on the island in the couple's home during the storm with two others he rescued after their homes were destroyed.

Carol Lyn and Chris Terrels organized a GoFundMe to help the people of Elbow Key. All money will be used to purchase supplies, which they will transport via boat. Requests for supplies have included tarps, fuel bladders, first-aid products, food and water.

The Terrel's plan to lead friends from Ocean City to take as many supplies as they can and load them up on their 35-foot boat docked in Palm Beach, Florida, according to ABC6. The boat is named "Never Quit."
