Ocean City Digs Out From 16-Inch Snowfall; Closures Announced
City officials are working to clear streets and restore power following significant snowfall in Ocean City.
OCEAN CITY, NJ — Ocean City is recovering from a significant blizzard that has brought at least 16 inches of snow to the area, according to the National Weather Service. Mayor Jay A. Gillian provided an update to residents regarding snow removal efforts, city services, and closures.
Public works crews are continuing to plow snow from city streets and alleys. Gillian said that with the size and duration of the snowstorm, it will take the rest of Monday and into Tuesday to complete this task. He acknowledged that some residents may find their driveways plowed in, which is an unavoidable consequence of clearing roads during a storm of this magnitude.
City officials are in contact with Atlantic City Electric regarding power outages impacting the town. The utility company is working to restore power as quickly as possible. Gillian's team will evaluate conditions Monday afternoon to determine when all city services and programs will resume operation.
