Ocean City Field Hockey Team Falls in Overtime in State Final

Warren Hills defeated the two-time champion in the teams' third consecutive meeting in a state final on Saturday, according to nj.com.

The Ocean City High School field hockey team’s string of state titles may have come to an end on Saturday, but it took the opposition an overtime period and a lot of drama to finally unseat the champions.

Warren Hills defeated Ocean City, 5-4 in overtime, on Saturday to win the NJSIAA State Group III championship, according to nj.com.

Ocean City defeated Warren Hills in the state final each of the last two years, including last year’s overtime victory.

Amanda Crompton scored the game-winning goal, with an assist from Nikki Profita, with 4:38 left in overtime.

Senior Lauren McNally, playing in her final game for Ocean City, provided three of the Red Raiders’ four goals. Rialee Allen had the other, and goalie Charity Beckert made seven saves, according to nj.com.
