OCEAN CITY, NJ — The Ocean City Fishing Club collected $552 in donations and 102 pounds of food for the Ocean City Community Food Cupboard during its Open House on Thursday, Aug. 3. The two-hour Open House drew 1,070 visitors, according to the fishing club.
Club members unlocked the gate to their historic pier at 14th Street and the Boardwalk and welcomed in guests for a tour and surfcasting demonstrations. Visitors were encouraged to bring non-perishable food or make cash donations for needy citizens.

Many visitors were tourists from throughout the United States, but more than a few were from Ocean City. “I’ve lived here 50 years, and this is the first time I’ve ever been on the pier,” one visitor confided.
