Ocean City Grad Earns Award In Marines: Report

Arthur Spackman earned the "Chesty" Puller Recruit Company Honor Man Award at the Parris Island SC

Arthur Spackman, a 2018 graduate of Ocean City High School, earned the the “Chesty” Puller Recruit Company Honor Man Award at the Parris Island SC on Nov. 30, according to the Ocean City Sentinel.

The awards goes to the Marine at each graduating company who "demonstrated the highest potential for future leadership and responsibility in the Marine Corps," according to the Marine Corps Association & Foundation.

Spackman also had the highest combined PFT/CFT — physical fitness test and combat fitness test — scores in his platoon, according to the Sentinel. Spackman has since completed his Marine Combat Training at Camp Geiger NC and is now en route to his Military Occupational Specialty in Virginia, the Sentinel said.

The South Carolina training facility held graduation in November as hundreds of recruits became marines, according to their Facebook page.
