Ocean City High School Alums Make Decisions On Basketball Futures

One former player begins her college career as another begins her professional life in Europe.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — One Ocean City High School alum is ready to begin her college basketball career as another former Red Raider gets set to join the pro ranks.

Grace Sacco, who graduated from Ocean City High School last month, will continue her stellar career at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington (UNC-Wilmington), an NCAA Division I school, the Ocean City Gazette reports. Sacco informed the coaching staff of her decision on July 7. Because she made her decision late in the process, there is no scholarship money for her freshman season, but there may be scholarship money available down the line.

Over the course of her four-year high school career, Sacco collected 953 points and had 505 assists, according to the report. She average 8.8 points and 5.6 assists as a senior.

At UNC-Wilmington, she’ll be joining a team that was 11-20 last season, including a 5-13 mark in Colonial Athletic Association play.

Meanwhile, former Ocean City High School and Rider University standout Julia Duggan is set to join professional German team Turngemeinde (TG) Neuss, according to The Press of Atlantic City. During this past season, Duggan became the 21st Rider player to score 1,000 points, and she was a two-time Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference selection. She graduated from Ocean City in 2013.
