Ocean City High School Baseball Team Earns Top Seed in S.J. Group III Playoffs

Ocean City will host Camden Tech in the first round on Monday.

Despite a pair of losses to the Mainland High School baseball team on Friday, Ocean City has the advantage in the quest for the South Jersey Group III championship.

The Red Raiders earned the No. 1 seed in the NJSIAA South Jersey Group III playoffs, according to nj.com.

Ocean City will host No. 16 Camden Tech in the first round on Monday, 4 p.m.

The Red Raiders were 16-7 this year, while Camden Tech was 8-6.

The winner will play the winner of the game between No. 8 Winslow and No. 9 Moorestown on May 21.

Meanwhile, Mainland was the No. 2 seed with a record of 17-3. The seeding was set on Thursday. The teams met on Friday night. Mainland scored in the second and sixth innings to secure the win, according to The Press of Atlantic City.

Mainland also defeated Ocean City, 7-6, on April 24.

The semifinals are set for May 26, with the final scheduled for May 29.

First round matchups, all set for Monday at 4p.m., are as follows:

No. 16 Camden Tech (8-6) at No. 1 Ocean City (16-7)

No. 9 Moorestown (11-8) at No. 8 Winslow (10-10)

No. 13 Seneca (10-10) at No. 4 Burlington Township (10-8)

No. 12 Central Regional (9-12) at No. 5 Delsea (13-5)

No. 14 Oakcrest (9-15) at No. 3 Toms River South (16-6)

No. 11 Pinelands (12-10) at No. 6 Triton (15-10-1)

No. 15 Cumberland (11-11) at No. 2 Mainland (17-3)

No. 10 Hammonton (8-13) at No. 7 Highland (12-8-1)
