OCEAN CITY, NJ — The Ocean City Historical Museum raised more than $1,000 during its annual t-shirt contest, the museum announced this week.
“Thanks to the business sponsors’ generosity we were able to award tremendous prizes to each division,” the museum said in its announcement. “Each contestant was able to enter a shirt in each division. The public was asked to vote as often as they liked. This contest is not just a fundraiser. It is all about getting the community involved in something fun while creating a buzz about the museum and you creating your own history.”
There were four divisions. The winners were as follows:

Commercial: “Oves Restaurant.” Celebrating 50 years on the Boardwalk, the Oves Family thought it would be great time to highlight their seafood dinners with their shirt, which said, “Where real seafood lovers eat,” featuring sea creature dining out.
Creative: “Nice to Eat You.” Caroline Bowman brought her creative talents with puffy paint to make a funny T-Shirt with a shark leaping up to chomp on some unsuspecting swimmers. Caroline “really” loves sharks. She has actually worked with them during her studies at college and tagged them in Florida.

Comedic: “Keep Surfing Dummies.” Kelsea Bowman said, “I am very happy with the prizes, but for me it was really about creating a shirt with my sister that everybody thought was funny.”
Vintage: “Ocean City Recreation.” Charlie Bowman, Jr. dusted an oldie, but a goodie from his days working with the Rec. Dept. in the 1970s. For those who know the Bowman Family, it’s not surprising the family would like to share their winnings with the other contestants who helped get out the vote and support the Museum. Charlie Bowman stated, “It’s just as much fun to give back as it is to win.” All the participants were able to share some of the prizes!”
