Ocean City To Hold Flood-Insurance Review Meeting

OCEAN CITY, NJ — Ocean City will hold a virtual meeting next month on flood insurance ratings. Experts can review your elevation certification and flood insurance policy to see if you're getting rated correctly.
The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. Oct. 14 via Zoom. Here's info on how to access the meeting.
The event is intended for those in and adjacent to the Flood Hazard Area, where buildings are required to have flood insurance. Attendees should bring their elevation certificate, flood insurance declaration page and two pictures of their home's exterior.

Insurance agents, engineers and Ocean City's floodplain manager will help review documentation to ensure accurate ratings, officials said.
Those who can't make the online meeting can attend one of the other sponsored meetings held throughout the year.

Ocean City achieved Class 4 designation last December in the National Flood Insurance Program's Community Rating System. That means all NFIP policy holders with compliant homes in Ocean City will receive a 30 percent discount on flood insurance, compared to communities that don't participate in the CRS.
