Ocean City Honors Three National Merit Scholars
Megan Young, Hannah Breed and Sarah Ford received letters of commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Program.

The Ocean City Board of Education on Wednesday night recognized three seniors who achieved "commended student" status in the National Merit Scholarship Program.
Schools Superintendent Kathleen Taylor told the board that Hannah Breed, Sarah Ford and Megan Young were among the "most academically talented" students in the nation.

Only Young was able to be present for recognition at the public meeting.
The three students were among 34,000 nationwide chosen from 1.5 million entrants to receive letters of commendation, but none advanced as scholarship finalists.

Young, a member of the soccer and crew teams, plans to attend Georgetown University and hopes to major in philosophy and pre-medical studies.
Ford. a tennis player and Key Club officer, plans to study biomedical engineering at the University of Pittsburgh.
Breed, who participates in school drama and dance productions, plans to attend Marymount Manhattan College.
