Ocean City Memorial Day Service, Remembrance Info

Staff Sergeant Patrick Carney, a U.S. Army veteran of two tours of duty in Iraq, will be the service's keynote speaker.

OCEAN CITY, N.J. — Ocean City will hold a Memorial Day Service and participate in the National Moment of Remembrance this Monday.

The service takes place at 11 a.m. at the Ocean City Tabernacle (550 Wesley Ave.). The city encourages all to attend.

Staff Sergeant Patrick Carney, a U.S. Army veteran of two tours of duty in Iraq, will be the keynote speaker. Carney sustained multiple injures and now advocates for veterans as a Department of Veterans Affairs employee.

The National Moment of Remembrance occurs at 3 p.m. Established by Congress, the event asks Americans, wherever they are at 3 p.m. on Memorial Day, to pause in an act of national unity for one minute.

Greg Murphy of the Buglers Across America will sounds Taps from the Ocean City Music Pier. The performance will be broadcast on the boardwalk public address system.
