Ocean City Nor'easters Announce 2017 Schedule

OCEAN CITY, NJ — The Ocean City Nor’easters men’s soccer team begins defense of its Eastern Conference championship when it hosts Evergreen FC on Friday night, May 19, 7 p.m.

The team announced its 14-game regular season schedule for 2017 over the weekend. The Nor'easters will compete in the Premiere Development League's (PDL) Mid-Atlantic Division.

They will face FA Euro, the Jersey Express, Lehigh Valley United and the New York Red Bulls U23s in home and away matches and will play three games each against Evergreen FC (2 home, 1 away) and long-time rival Reading United AC (1 home, 2 away).

This year, there are 72 teams in the league, split into three divisions nationally. A diagram of the league setup is attached to this post.

John Thompson takes over head coaching duties from Tim Oswald, who finished his five-year run as the winningest coach in the club's PDL history. Thompson played for the club from 2002-06 and was a two-time All-League selection and was named the 2004 PDL Defender of the Year.

All the Nor'easters home games will be played at Carey Stadium, also known as "The Beach House,” in Ocean City. It will be the first season the Nor’easters play on the recently installed artificial turf at the stadium, which also plays host to Ocean City High School football, soccer, field hockey, lacrosse and track and field play.

Since 2003, the Nor'easters have the sixth-best home record of any team in the PDL , with a 65-24-22 mark. The team also has the sixth-best overall record in the league over that span, at 121-56-43. The Nor’easters advanced to the league's national semifinals last year.
