OCEAN CITY, NJ — Ocean City American Legion Post 524 is seeking a one-week donation of a local condo to honor a visiting military family. The Legion's Rest & Relaxation Program welcomes a service member each year with an Ocean City vacation.

The Legion's weeklong expression of thanks begins with a police and firefighter escort to the island. During a reception at Post 524, the guest family receives donations of products and services from Ocean City merchants.

Donations have included tickets to boardwalk amusement centers, dinners at local restaurants, groceries from food markets and admission to the Aquatics and Fitness Center.

“Whenever military personnel are deployed, their families also share in that deployment and we support their efforts as well,” said Jerry Bonner, chairman of the R&R Committee. “Many of these military personnel have spent time in the hotspots of the world, and the least we can do is honor their commitment to our country and the protection they provided us."

Last year, the Rest & Relaxation program honored Air Force Staff Sergeant Andre Pazmino and his family. Pazmino, a 13-year veteran, has been deployed to Iraq and most recently Somalia. He serves out of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. Read more: Air Force Vet, Family Surprised With Free Ocean City Vacation
