Ocean City PD Adjusts Protocols During NJ Coronavirus Spread
Ocean City police are making precautions during New Jersey's coronavirus outbreak. Here's what to know.
OCEAN CITY, NJ — The Ocean City Police Department has adjusted some protocols during the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.
There are no confirmed cases of the virus in Cape May County as of Monday afternoon. But the OCPD will exercise caution with several changes.
Those needing assistance are still encouraged to call 911 to report an emergency or 609-399-9111 to report a non-emergent situation.

Ocean City's emergency-communications personnel will determine whether an officer's physical presence is necessary to complete the report. Police will document some incidents over the phone.

Anyone visiting the police department will speak to officers through the internal phone system. The agency's goal is to reduce unnecessary in-person contact.

Ocean City officials have also instituted precautions. All special events through April are canceled, including the Doo Dah Parade, the Great Egg Hunts and the Sports Memorabilia Show.
