Ocean City Pitcher Strikes Out 15 in Win Over St. Augustine

The Red Raiders handed the Hermits their first loss of the season.

Sean Mooney did it all in the Ocean City High School baseball team’s win over St. Augustine Prep on Monday.

As the winning pitcher, Mooney struck out 15 batters, and allowed just three hits and two walks in the Red Raiders’ 5-1 win over the previously undefeated Hermits, according to nj.com.

At the plate, he was 3-for-4 with a double and a couple of runs, according to the report.

Joe Clifford had a double and two RBI for Ocean City, which improved to 3-2 overall, 2-0 in the Cape-Atlantic League.

Mooney has already committed to playing at St. John’s University. He fell two strikeouts shy of the Ocean City High School single-game strikeout record, which he shares, according to the Ocean City Gazette.
