Ocean City Police Save Woman's Life After She is Hit by Car

An 18-year-old woman was hit by a car on July 14. A tourniquet applied at the scene saved her life, according to the surgeon.

Ocean City Police saved the life of an 18-year-old woman who was hit by a car while walking on the 1400 block of Haven Avenue on July 14, the Ocean City Gazette reports.

She was one of two girls injured in what police called a “freak accident,” when a woman lost control of her car and went up on the sidewalk, striking two girls, according to the report.

Police applied a tourniquet to the 18-year-old on the scene. The emergency room surgeon said this saved her life, according to the report. The 11-year-old girl suffered minor injuries.
