Ocean City Pops Release Summer Slate

Here are some of the highlights for the 2019 Ocean City Pops season.

OCEAN CITY, N.J. — The 2019 Ocean City Pops season is coming up. Tickets go on sale at 9 a.m. Thursday.

The Ocean City Pops, in its 91st season, will host performances with special themes, including Broadway songs and full musicals, movie themes and tunes and a salute to the American Legion on its 100th anniversary.

Tickets will be available at oceancityvacation.com/boxoffice, by calling 609-399-6111, or in-person at the City Hall Welcome Center, the Roy Gillian Welcome Center on the Route 52 causeway, the 46th Street Welcome Center and at the Ocean City Music Pier Welcome Center on weekends (9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).

Highlights include the following:

Patina Miller (7:30 p.m. July 14): The Tony-Award winning actress currently stars on the CBS series "Madam Secretary." Miller played the lead role in the 2012-13 Broadway revival of "Pippin," which earned her a Tony Award. She received a Tony nomination for her Broadway Debut as the lead in the state adaptation of "Sister Act."

Katherine Jenkins

Katherine Jenkins (7:30 p.m. Aug. 11): Jenkins was officially crowned last year as the top-selling Classical Music Artist of the Last 25 Years by Classic FM.

Cheyenne Jackson (7:30 p.m. Aug. 21): The Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter was most recently seen in FX's "American Horror Story: Apocalypse." Jackson will next star in Disney's "Descendants 3," coming later in 2019. He also performed in “The Most Happy Fella,” “The Performers,” “Finian’s Rainbow,” “Xanadu,” “All Shook Up,” “Aida” and “Thoroughly Modern Millie.”

Here She Is — Former Miss Americas In Concert (7:30 p.m. Sept. 4): Two former Miss Americas join the Pops in a concern featuring Broadway, pop and opera. Miss America 2002 Katie Harman Ebner and Miss America 2012 Laura Kaeppeler will perform as special guest vocalists.

LaKisha Jones in Queens of Rock and Soul (7:30 p.m. Sept. 7): The "American Idol" finalist celebrates the great ladies of soul, including Diana Ross, Donna Summer, Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston. Jones has performed as a guest soloist with the National Symphony, San Diego Symphony, Utah Symphony and Opera, Winnipeg Symphony, Evansville Philharmonic, Jacksonville Symphony, Minnesota Orchestra, Colorado Symphony, Grand Rapids Symphony, Reno Philharmonic and more.
