Ocean City School Board Recognizes Outstanding Students

The Ocean City High School Board of Education recognized 11 students for academic achievements at its meeting Wednesday night.

The Board recognized six AP Scholars with Honors, which means the students earned an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams.

Recognized students included Ryan Beebe, Justin Booth, Benjamin Fischer, Robert Phillips, Rachel Stremme, and Lindsay Wan.

Five students who earned AP Scholars with Distinction were also recognized. Students who earned this honor earned an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.

Recognized students included Lauren Bowersock, BriarRose Ginn, Mercy Griffith, Emma Leeds, and Laura McKinley.

On Nov. 12, the Board will recognize Commended Students to the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program, AP Scholars and 2014 NJASK Perfect Scores.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium.

Ocean City High School Seniors Lauren Bowersock and Benjamin Fischer were named Commended Students to the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program.

During the 2013-2014 school years, the Ocean City School District had 54 students score perfect scores of 300 on one of the NJ ASK tests.

The district said perfect scores show the students’ academic aptitude in many skills such as comprehending, sequencing, describing, comparing and contrasting, solving, interpreting, identifying, analyzing, computing, calculating, defining and reflecting, as well as the students’ attitudes by setting and meeting the highest possible standards for themselves.
