First-grade teacher Carrie Merritt is dressing up and keeping students engaged as they learn from home.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — As New Jersey deals with the novel coronavirus, an Ocean City teacher found a way to keep her students smiling. Carrie Merritt has been reading to students through online videos, dressing up as characters from each story.
Merritt teaches first grade at the Ocean City Primary School. One of her favorite parts of teaching is "read aloud." But New Jersey closed all schools because of the virus, so she had to find a new way to reach them.
