Ocean City Theatre Co. Announces Spring, Summer Activities
Over 500 kids will participate in OCTC's summer camps, classes and youth productions.

OCEAN CITY, N.J. — The Greater Ocean City Theatre Company announced its array of camps, classes and youth productions for this spring and summer. The programs are designed for students of all ages and experience levels.
Staff members include accomplished artists and educators in the theatre arts industry with professional credits from regional theaters to Broadway productions.

Here are the programs:
Shakespeare's Workshop: The four-week intensive program gives students a hands-on workshop experience focused on William Shakespeare. Students will learn techniques for bringing the classic literature to life. The workshop begins May 12 and is open to students sixth through 12th grade.

The Wedding Singer (The Musical) and Guys and Dolls Jr.: Youth from Ocean City and the surrounding area can work under a professional production staff for these shows. High school students will perform The Wedding Singer, while middle school students will put on Guys and Dolls Jr. Auditions take place May 4 or 5 at OCTC (1501 West Ave.). Summer Theatre Camp Session One - Disney's Aristocats Kids: OCTC's annual collaboration with the City Recreation Department returns. Casting will begin the first day of camp for a two-week rehearsal process of the the Disney musical, Aristocats Kids, based off the 1970 Disney movie. Other activities will include trips to the Music Pier morning Children's Theatre Series, acting games, singing and movement/dance. The camp is open to students from third to eighth grade as of fall 2019. Camp begins July 1.
Theatre Camp Session Two: Schoolhouse Rock Live Jr.: Casting begins the first day of camp as students prepare for this performance. The camp is open to students from third to eighth grade as of fall 2019. Camp begins July 15.
Theatre Camp Session Three: Play pretend this summer at a theatre camp designed for younger students from kindergarten through fourth grade as of fall 2019. Campers will bring to life musical numbers and scenes all about summer vacation. Participants will enjoy introductions to theatre fundamentals through theatre exercises, reader's theatre scenes, crafts and muscle theatre. Camp begins July 29.
Musical Theatre Audition Boot Camp: This professional preparation program helps kids who dream of being on the professional stage. The five-day intensive program provides students with tools they need to audition with confidence. Group classes will provide individual feedback and coaching on three, contrasting, audition ready, musical cuts and a one-minute monologue. The camp is open to students from eighth to 12th grade as of fall 2019.
Mamma Mia and Newsies Master Classes: Learn the original Broadway choreography from the OCTC's professional Main Stage productions of Mamma Mia and Newsies. This is for performers with a serious passion for jazz and musical theatre dancing. Cast members from the professional company will join the dancers. The one-day class takes place July 7 and Aug. 4. It's open to students from grades 6 to 12 as of fall 2019.
Private Acting Lessons for students grades 5 to 12: Experience one-on-one private acting lessons to perfect your technique with trained instructors who have worked to prepare for college and school auditions. Develop personalized skills to make you a stronger, more confident performer.
Private Voice Lessons for grades 4 to 12: Experience one-on-one vocal lessons to perfect your technique and singing skills with trained music instructors. The instructors have experience working to prepare for college auditions, school singing, musical theatre, classical music and choral works.
