Ocean City Weekend To Feature 5K Race, Health Expo At Music Pier

OCEAN CITY, NJ — Ocean City will host two public events on June 13 and 14, with the Emergency Responder 5-Kilometer Race on Saturday and the annual Ocean City Health and Wellness Expo on Sunday.

The race will be staged from the Ocean City Civic Center at Sixth Street and Boardwalk, with race-day registration opening at 7 a.m. and the race beginning at 8:30 a.m. The free expo is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 14 at the Ocean City Music Pier.

The Emergency Responder 5-Kilometer Race was formerly known as the Cop Chase. According to the announcement, the event now honors all first responders. The program also includes a 1-mile fun run-walk and kids' events, including 50- and 100-meter dashes and a 400-meter obstacle course.

The 5-kilometer and 1-mile events will start on the Boardwalk and finish on the track at Carey Stadium. Kids' events will be held on the field. Online registration and additional information are available at www.ocnj.us/race-events.

Sunday's Ocean City Health and Wellness Expo is hosted by the OCNJ Healthy Living Advisory Council. According to the announcement, the free event will include fitness classes, blood-pressure screenings, vendors and a kids' corner. The event description also says attendees can explore health food and wellness product vendors, along with yoga and fitness demonstrations.

The posted expo schedule lists Drum Fit at 11:15 a.m., Functional Mobility Stretch at noon, Laugther Yoga at 12:45 p.m., Hula Hoop at 1:30 p.m. and an Athleisure Fashion Show at 2:15 p.m. A vendor list is also available through the event information.

The weekend events are part of a larger June calendar in Ocean City. The traditional Miss New Jersey parade is set for 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, on the Boardwalk from Sixth Street to 14th Street. The announcement says the parade is free to watch and will include contestants in the Miss New Jersey and Miss New Jersey's Teen competitions, along with musical entries, floats and groups.

Additional June events listed by Ocean City include Farmers Markets on June 17 and June 24, the Miss New Jersey Competition from June 18 to 20, the Miss New Jersey's Teen Competition on June 20, the Antique Auto Show on June 27, Brandon Tomasello: One Man Rat Pack with The OC Pops on June 28, Chica De Mayo at the Ocean City Skate Park on June 28 and a Straight No Chaser concert on June 29.
