Ocean City's Spring Block Party Canceled Amid Coronavirus
The Spring Block Party was scheduled for May 2.
OCEAN CITY, NJ — Ocean City's Spring Block Party was canceled because of the novel-coronavirus outbreak. The event was set for May 2.
"The event is always a highlight of the spring for residents, guests, vendors and merchants," said Mayor Jay Gillian. "I want to thank everybody for their understanding as we continue to suspend all social gathering in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19."

The City typically begins its season of frequent events at the beginning of April. President Donald Trump extended social-distancing guidelines through April 30. But it's possible President Trump or other officials extend those guidelines beyond April.

The Cape May County Health Department has reported 49 coronavirus cases as of Friday afternoon. Ocean City has one active case and one recovery.
