Open Auditions For 'The Drowsy Chaperone' Planned In Margate
Fool Moon Theatre Company will audition adults April 18 and 19 in Margate for its summer production.
MARGATE, NJ — Fool Moon Theatre Company is holding open auditions in Margate for “The Drowsy Chaperone,” a five-time Tony Award-winning meta-musical and parody of 1920s American musical comedy.
Auditions are scheduled for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 18, and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 19, at Margate Community Church, 8900 Ventnor Ave., Margate.
According to the announcement, men and women age 18 and older are invited to audition. Performers should be prepared to sing an audition song with their own backing track. They will also be asked to read from sides and show physical comedic ability, movement and dance skills.

The production is described in the announcement as “a loving parody of the 1920s American musical comedy genre.” The score is by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison, and the book is by Bob Martin and Don McKellar. The fictional musical centers on intrigue surrounding a soon-to-be-wed oil tycoon and a Broadway starlet.
The company noted that tap dancing males are needed for the show. The announcement also describes the production as “a fun, high-energy show.”

Performance dates are set for July 17 to 19 and July 24 to 26. According to the announcement, actors must be available for all performances.
