Parking Meters, Community Operations on the Agenda for Thursday's Ocean City Council Meeting
Ocean City Council meets Thursday night, 7 p.m. at City Hall.
Ocean City Council will consider a pair of ordinances on introduction and give final consideration to a pair of ordinances when it meets Thursday night, 7 p.m. at City Hall.
One ordinance concerns multiple changes in the city’s ordinance concerning parking meters and time limit parking.
One change in the ordinance designates five spots at the Shelter Road Soccer Field rear parking lot for oversized vehicles and construction equipment. A fee of $100 per week or for any portion of the week will be charged per spot, but contractors doing business for the city will be exempt. They will still be required to purchase a permit.

Council will also consider an ordinance on introduction that would allow yoga and dance studios to be built in the neighborhood business zone.
Council will give final consideration to an ordinance that would eliminate the Department of Community Operations, reinstate the Department of Public Works and incorporate the duties of the former Former Department of Community Operations into other departments.
Two years ago, the City combined the Department of Services with the Department of Community Operations.
Last year, the City re-established the Department of Community Services.
This ordinance would revert things back to the way they were two years ago. It passed on introduction with a 6-0 vote. Councilman Peter Guinosso abstained.
The other ordinance to be considered on second reading calls for an easement in, on, over and across 719 Tenth Street for New Jersey American Water. This is so the water company can replace an old water main that runs underneath the Boardwalk in the Tenth Street area, and services private businesses on the Boardwalk. The ordinance was approved on introduction, 7-0.
There are also 11 items on the consent agenda.
