Photographer Brings 'Photo Transfers' to Ocean City Arts Center for February

James Adam Taylor will exhibit a unique type of photography for the entire month.

Imagine a majestic photograph of a mountain or a simple reproduction of a leaf and then picture these images permanently transferred to beautiful birch wood or simply put on a piece of notepaper.

That's the kind of unique photography that James Adam Taylor brings to the through Feb. 29. Meet Adam, as he likes to be called, at an open reception 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10.

Taylor, a resident of Williamstown, began producing photo transfers as a student at Rowan University in 2003.

"Photo transfers are when an image moves from its original surface to a secondary substrate, such as paper or wood," Taylor says. "The exhibit explores the outdoors with images of mountains in Utah, a star-filled sky above a barn, various foliage and beautiful views of glaciers from a high altitude."

"The subject matter I focused on for this show is what you may see if you were to travel this country to spend time in remote and rural places. The grandeur of a mountain or simple portrait of a leaf gives me a great feeling of awe for the world outside and what we as humans have control over."
