Plane Lands In Ocean Off Cape May Point; Rescue Underway
UPDATE: One person was on the plane, but there is no immediate word on his condition, according to the FAA.

CAPE MAY POINT, N.J. — Rescue operations are underway after a report Wednesday that a plane landed in the ocean off Cape May Point, a Coast Guard spokesperson told Patch.
One man was aboard the small plane, according to a statement from the Federal Aviation Administration. His name and condition has not been revealed. The plane took off around 8 a.m. Wednesday from Trenton-Robbinsville Airport in Robbinsville, according to the FAA.
The Mooney M20J aircraft crashed in the water about 1,200 feet from the Cape May Lighthouse and is submerged in the ocean, according to the FAA.

A bystander alerted authorities at around 11:30 a.m., according to spokesperson Petty Officer Andy Kendrick of the Coast Guard. Lifeguards and the Cape May Fire Department are on the scene, Kendrick said.
Boat crews and a helicopter crew joined the rescue efforts, according to Kendrick.
