OCEAN CITY, NJ — A popular Ocean City Italian shop has announced that it will close at the end of its 69th season in business.

"Since 1954, Voltacos has been here to serve our customers, locals and tourists alike, the best Italian take-out at the Jersey Shore," the business said in a social media post announcing the closure. "Now in our fourth generation, we are proud of the business we have built and the legacy we have made for ourselves in the process."

"After much deliberation, we have come to the not-so-easy decision to make 2022 our last year in business. We do this with sadness in our hearts, as this life here is the only one we have truly ever known, but we are also happy and optimistic for our futures," the Taccorino family, the fourth generation owners, said.

"Generations of our customers have crossed through our doors, with some now coming in with their grandchildren who they themselves were small children when their older family members first brought them in," they said.

The shop's last day will be Oct. 9.
