Bag Of Heroin At South Jersey Halloween Event: Police

Police determined that heroin was found in a child's candy bag, police said.

CAPE MAY COUNTY - Heroin was found in a child's candy bag at a New Jersey Halloween event this past weekend, police said. Police tested the contents and confirmed that the substance was the drug.

The incident happened in Middle Township at a local Trunk or Treat event, police said, when a parent was checking their child's candy bag.

The parent and child had attended a Trunk or Treat event at the Family Success Center in Rio Grande when they found a bag of what is believed to be heroin, police said.

There was only one reported incident, and it was actively being investigated by the Middle Township Police Patrol and Major Crimes Units, police said.

The police would like to advise parents and guardians to check their children's candy bags thoroughly and contact the police if they discover anything suspicious, harmful or out of the ordinary.
